Affordability at last

TV seasons on DVD tend to range between $30 and $50 US. The cheaper ones aren’t often full seasons; sometimes they’re “volumes” that aren’t full seasons (most often occurs with some half-hour comedies and cartoons and such that aren’t reliant on continuity episode-to-episode). But the prices have been largely consistent over the last few years.
This is in stark contrast to one of the first Star Trek (I can’t say the first, as I don’t know if it was or not — if someone finds out before I do, comment and let me know) television seasons to come out on DVD: “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” For several years, seasons of TNG and the other Star Trek series as they were released carried price tags of $110 USD and above.
I’d seen evidence on Amazon.com indicating they were coming down in price this year, but I don’t always trust special prices until I see them in multiple spots. But then I saw seasons 1 and 2 of both TNG and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” at Wal Mart last week for approx. $55 each. Still more pricey than other TV seasons, but compared to their original prices, it’s more than a 50% discount.
Better still was finding them at BJ’s Wholesale Club tonight, at $48. I know where to look for seasons of TV on DVD now.
