Holiday Enlightenment

As I was getting ready to drive to Buffalo to pick up Yvonne and her sister Saturday, I had an interesting realization.

It doesn’t matter what I get for Christmas.

I noticed that I was less interested in what would be under the tree and more interested in seeing both my family and my fiancée’s family to hang out. This is something your elders try to beat into you, and you sometimes pay lip service to, but I actually got it this year, and it’s feeling like a really awesome Christmas.

What?

Oh, yeah, fiancée.

Didn’t I tell you about that?

The names, they are a changin’…

For the fourth time in as many years, a NASCAR national racing series is changing its name.

Following the Winston Cup’s changeover to the NEXTEL Cup in 2004, and then to the Sprint Cup next year, along with the Busch Series transforming to the Nationwide Series next year as well, comes word from SceneDaily that the Craftsman Truck Series will have a new name in 2009.

We Don’t Offer American Express: A Path to Citizenship

Posts to the website IMAO are usually more silly than serious, but this editorial by contributor Spacemonkey (while not without its lightheartedness) is pretty much spot on. The one-line summary: We already have a path to citizenship for illegal aliens. It’s the same one we’ve had for all immigrants for the last 231 years.

Money quote:

Many illegal immigrants are hard working souls. The miniscule amount of work this path requires of them shouldn’t scare them even a little bit. If it does, then well maybe they aren’t nearly as hard working as we’ve been led to believe.
