American Idol 2/21 (Liveblogged!)

40 minutes of fluff and filler, 18 minutes of commercials, and 2 minutes (at best) of real content. “Live and right now…” this is a results show.
- 28 million votes this week.
- Two guys and two girls go home tonight.
- Fluff vid: the top 24 to a Daughtry song, “What About Now.”
- Group sing: “Needles and Pins,” originally by Jackie DeShannon, also done by The Searchers, followed by “Bend Me Shape Me” by The American Breed.
- Results from the guys first. A quick run through Tuesday’s show. My predictions again: bottom three of Danny, Luke and Garrett; with Luke and Garrett going home.
- Garrett goes home first, with almost no fanfare. It’s like the first redshirt hostage the movie villains execute just to show they can. Danny looks shocked.
- Garrett doesn’t sing all that much better in his sing-out.
- Women are up next for their first victim of the week. Wednesday’s show is recapped. My predictions were: bottom three of Joanne, Amy and Kady, with Amy and Kady going home.
- Kristy is called up to talk to Ryan, but is safe.
- Amy goes home, and is still flat in her sing-out.
- Paula “shaking what Mama Abdul gave her” is up after the break…
- …but it’s just playing the video, not a live performance.
- Not a bad song, though. I’ll probably buy it.
- This was apparently a single on Randy’s new album. Does he sing?
- Girls are up again for another elimination. Joanne and Amanda are called up for results… after the break.
- Joanne is eliminated. I’m two for three so far.
- Chikezie and Colton are called up. I’ll go .500 tonight.
- Colton gets eliminated. Chikezie starts breathing again.
- Fluff vid: recapping the eliminated four.
