American Idol 3/19

I suppose I should write up the results show before I watch tonight’s performance show, right?

  • My DVR’s recording comes in in the middle of the rundown of mentors for this season, including Mariah Carey, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Neil Diamond.
  • Quick blurb on the song-writing contest for the finale.
  • Group medley: “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Here, There and Everywhere” and “The End” (I might have missed a fourth one in the middle).
  • Recapping the previous show.
  • Brooke White is brought out, and makes the top ten.
  • Carly Smithson is, to the intense dismay of Paula and the rest of the audience, banished to the bottom three.
  • David Archuleta and Michael Johns are safe.
  • Behind the scenes of the Ford music video shoot, followed by the actual video for “Should I Stay Or Should I Go”.
  • David Cook, who should easily be in, is. Top ten.
  • Kristy Lee Cook joins Carly on the stools in the bottom three.
  • Jason Castro goes to the sofa and safety, as does Ramiele Malubay. There are two of my picks for the bottom three, as well as my pick to go home this week. I thought both of the girls in the bottom three so far did really well… this could be trouble.
  • Question time! Cheryll Ann, 20 of Kansas City, MO asks Simon, “Why do you spend so much money on cars and nothing on clothing?” Simon: “Unlike some people on this show,” *looks at Ryan* “I actually don’t have an ego.”
  • Jessica Reynolds, 18 of Hillsborough, NJ, asks Paula and Simon, “Would you ever consider filming a sequel to the kiss scene?” Simon: “Yes, and I’ll tell you why… [Paula is] a very good kisser.”
  • Mary Roberts, 20 of Los Angeles asks Ramiele, “What was the last song you downloaded on your iPod?” Ramiele: “R. Kelly, ‘I’m a Flirt.’”
  • Linda Neese, 49 of Los Angeles asks Michael, “How are you dealing with everything that’s going on? Is it what you thought?” Michael: “Everything and more.”
  • A video on Kellie Pickler on goings on since Season Five, followed by a performance of “Red High Heels.”
  • Kellie seems to have a Dolly Parton sound in her performance. When the performance of the competition is off, she shines.
  • Little bit of a flirty moment with Simon, while Randy seems to check her out as she goes by. :-P
  • “Idol Gives Back” will be back in a few weeks.
  • Syesha Mercado is safe.
  • Amanda Overmyer and Chikezie are brought out as the last two. Chikezie is safe, Amanda is sent to the bottom three.
  • Carly is declared safe, and joins the top-ten benches. Kristy and Amanda remain in danger.
  • Kristy is also safe, sending Amanda Overmyer home.

Having read about this week already, stay tuned shortly for tonight’s show with songs selected from the years of the Idols’ births.
