One last catchup blog, with the results of the top three. The finalists are chosen tonight.

• Last night’s show recapped.
• Fantasia Barrino performs. She’s still not my favorite Idol; I was rooting for Diana DiGarmo that year.
• David Archuleta comes to the stage, as they show a video of his trip to Murray, UT the week before.
• David drools over the cheerleaders, which he can get away with, as they’re his age.
• His mom is pretty young. Looks like she’s in her late 20s, almost like she’s his older sister.
• Ryan runs down the judges responses to his performance, teases playing the homecoming video again, then plays what could be his farewell video, with different theme music than they had been using. This makes sense, as next week, the runner-up would have his farewell overwhelmed by the winner, and the winner wouldn’t get a farewell video, per se. So, better to play them all this week.
• Syesha comes to the stage, and gets the same rundown — Sarasota, FL homecoming video, judging recap, and season recap video.
• Sarasota’s mayor nearly kills her self with a handstand.
• Syesha cried a lot, too, though she kept it in the limo. How much did Cook cry?
• David is called to the stage. He talks about how he almost didn’t audition — he was there to support his brother Andrew, when the cameraman turned to him for an interview. “Hey, hold on, I’m not auditioning.” “Well, now you are!”
• David’s younger brother is called up to the stage from the audience, and they call the deal that Andrew gets half of whatever success comes.
• David’s going-home video to Kansas City, MO.
• Aww, he surprised his elementary school music teacher.
• Aaaand, here comes the sniffles.
• “Thanks for talking him into it, Andrew. We’ll see you next year, right?” Andrew nods, their mother shakes her head nooo…
