Election Day: Do your duty, but…
Nov 3, 2008 Brainwaves, In The News, Politics
By the time you read this, it’ll probably be Tuesday.
November 4th.
Here in the United States, it’s Election Day.
The common urging is, “whomever you actually vote for, get out there and vote.” It’s a reasonable idea.
I’m not going to go that far.
Be smart about this. Make sure that the candidate you’re voting for is who he says he is, and is going to do what he claims he’s going to do. Make sure that the candidate you’re voting for shares, as best as he can, your principles. None of them will be perfect, and you’re gonna have to make compromises. Make sure the policies he says he’s going to implement will do the things he says they’ll do. Make sure you’re voting for the right person for the job, not just someone who seems cool or sounds interesting.
If you’re not sure you’re voting for the right reasons, maybe it’s not a good idea. But, if you’re sure you’re making the best decision for yourself, well…
…whomever you decide to vote for…Â be sure to go vote.
