Ask Me Weekend #8: The Green Card Marriage (that technically wasn’t)

Immigration status update? :)

AtlantiCat

Having been 12 weeks (tomorrow) since we got married, we’re pretty sure the 10-12 weeks it takes to register a marriage in Ontario has passed, so we can pretty safely apply for copies of our marriage certificate this weekend, which is one of the many pieces of paper we need to file to have Yvonne start to move to the states.  If you’re familiar at all with the K-3 visa process, that’s what’s coming up next.

  • We are still pulling for you guys. Keep at it brother, and say hi to Yvonne for us. :)
  • Thanks! She says hi, too! :)

  • Hey Pauley;

    Fun, fun, fun! We originally came to the Rochester area on a Religion Visa, then applied for Green Card status. Are you working with a lawyer? It's a whole lot easier to do that. While they say you can apply for Green Card by yourself, it's really hard.

  • We haven't been yet, though we can certainly look into it if needed. I'm already a US Citizen, so we're applying for the K-3 visa, which allows her to enter as a non-immigrant and become a legal permanent resident within two years.
