Just because a one-page pdf says it's legal doesn't mean every parent and beat-cop will agree. While it my not mean you get a criminal record, the cop may decide it's easiest to take you downtown and let someone else figure out who's right and who's wrong. I have read about incidences in the UK and Canada. I have not read of any here in the US involving children, but I have read of ones here where people get in trouble for taking photos of the outsides of buildings. It's not right, but it could really ruin your day ven if you are in the right.

Read The Photograher's Right, a one-page PDF that sums up where you can and can't take photos in the US. I'm not sure if there's a Canadian analogue to this guide. It appears this couple is in a public place, so any expectation that they cannot be photographed would be unreasonable South of the border.

True. If there's ever any question or dispute, I'll delete a photo; it's not worth the problems. But there typically isn't a reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place like that. I'm not concerned at this time.

-- Pauley

Careful there Pauley....in some places taking a picture of someone else's kid like that will get you a lot of unwanted attention (and possibly even arrested!).

:P
