American Idol 8 – Top 36 group two results

Three more are promoted to the top twelve ahead…

  • “What have you done?” Ryan asks as he looks at Nick… I hope that’s not a hint. *gulp*
  • Video recap of how these twelve made it to the top 36.
  • Group perfomance: “Closer” by Ne-Yo.
  • Ryan teases an “unseen audition” to air during the commercial break. An unidentified young woman sings “The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss),” and does a really good job of it. I don’t recognize her… who is that?
  • Video recap of the previous night’s performance show. My predictions of tonight’s winners were Allison, Megan and Adam.
  • Ryan asks Nick what, should he not make it through, is next for him. “Well, I’m always looking for employment…” I hope his resumé is polished.
  • Allison is called to center stage… and asked to step to one side, along with Jesse and Matt B. Randy predicts Allison goes on from this group… and he’s right! The fourth finalist is Allison Iraheta. One prediction correct! She tries to sit, but Ryan makes her sing first.
  • Megan and Kris are called forward, as are Matt G. and Janine. So far, out of this group, I still like Megan. Kris was decent, and the other two weren’t that good.
  • One of the four will go in… Janine and Matt are seated back in their seats, leaving Megan and Kris. Megan was the better performance, but Kris wasn’t bad. I had him in my predicted top three, but bumped him for Adam.
  • Kris Allen moves on. Megan’s a lock (I think) for a wild card spot.
  • Idol retrospective from earlier in the season, recaping all the ones before it: “What A Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.
  • Live performance by season 7’s Brooke White: her first single, “Hold Up My Heart.”
  • Five contestants remain. Mishavonna, Kai, Nick, Jasmine and Adam are called to center stage. Ryan talks to Mishavonna and Kai, skips past Nick and moves to Jasmine. These three are eliminated. Toying with America (I hope), Ryan says “three” remain — Nick, “Norman” and Adam.
  • Adam Lambert takes the final spot in this week’s group. Six down, six to go.

Group three performs next, and it looks to be a good group…

  • Kris did pretty good tonite with a song that was (covered?) by James Taylor and gave it his own spin.
