American Idol 8 – Top 36 group three results and wild card contestants
Mar 5, 2009 That's Hot
The final group of three finalists to move on on their first live performance are announced tonight, and the wild cards are announced.
- Second-chance contestants for tomorrow night’s live wild card show will be announced at the end of this show.
- I forgot to get the vote count for last week’s show, and this week’s isn’t announced.
- Video recap: how this group of twelve made it to last night’s show.
- Group sing: Katy Perry’s “Hot and Cold”
- Another hidden audition tonight. Different girl than last night, but I don’t recognize her either.
- Video recap: last night’s performance show. I predicted last night that the three moving on tonight would be Felicia, Scott and Lil.
- After some interviews on the group’s performances last night, Lil is called front and center, and Ryan doesn’t make her wait. Lil Rounds is immediately (and deservedly) promoted to the top twelve.
- Arianna, Taylor, Alex, Kendall and Scott are asked to stand. One of these 5 made it through, and we’ll find out who… after the break.
- Arianna is asked to sit back down, as are Taylor and Alex. Kendall and Scott are brought to the center stage.
- Going on is… Scott MacIntyre!
- Nathanial and Kristen are asked to stand… and then to sit back down; neither makes it to the end.
- Felicia and Von stand next, and are both also eliminated. I wouldn’t be surprised to see both of these two show up tomorrow night.
- Ju’not and Jorge are called to center stage — one of these two will be going on. While they weren’t in my predictions, I don’t have a problem with either of these two.
- Jorge Nuñez takes the final spot to lock in tonight!
- The judges have picked some of the previous contestants to wait in the Red Room, and they, along with everyone still on the couch, is still in contention for a live wild card performance tomorrow night.
- The nine who have advanced so far are brought to the stage again, while eight of the remaining crew will be brought in tomorrow night for a live performance and live judging.
- Randy makes the first wild card pick in Von Smith, while Kara picks Jasmine Murray.
- Paula picks someone from the first round, and brings back Ricky Braddy.
- Taking a “Darth Vader” taunt from Ryan, Simon resurrects Megan Joy Corkrey.
- Randy returns for a second pick, and calls back Tatiana Del Toro, and seems a little overwhelmed.
- Kara names Matt Giraud to the wild card panel, while Paula, noting she was a last minute choice, brings back Jesse Langseth. One spot left…
- …and Simon tells us it goes to Anoop Desai! These eight will sing tomorrow night, and the final decisions on the last three finalists will be made by the four judges at the end of the same show.
I’m a little disappointed to see Felicia didn’t make it in either batch tonight. I wonder if she might have been the one who was swapped out for Jesse… we’ll likely never know.
The final twelve will be set when we come back tomorrow night!
