American Idol 8 – Top 9 results (Liveblogged!)
Apr 1, 2009 That's Hot
How’d everyone do? The results are live, below…
- Later tonight, Lady GaGa and David Cook.
- Quick check-in with the judges, followed by the Ford Music Video: “Mixed Up”
- Live performance: the top nine sing one of my many favorite songs, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
- Video package: photo shoots and Ford Music Video shoots with the Idols. Danny and Matt impersonate each other, Anoop plays Kris, and Allison rips on Danny.
- Results time. Megan, Matt and Kris are asked to stand at the far right (our left) of the stage. Adam, Lil and Allison stand center stage, and the remaining three, Scott, Danny and Anoop are at stage left. One of these groups is tonight’s bottom three. My money’s on group one.
- Live performance: “Come Back to Me” by reigning Idol, David Cook.
- Ryan and two unknown blondes present David with a plaque commemorating his first album going platinum.
- Kris is declared safe, while Matt is asked to take a seat… with Kris (April fool!). Megan also takes a seat… but in the bottom three. Evidently, they’re saying one of each group is in the bottom, not one group is the bottom three.
- Center group: Lil is safe. Allison goes to the bottom three, while Adam is also declared safe. Two down, one to go.
- Final group: Danny is safe. Scott and Anoop are left… Randy thinks it’s Anoop going to the bottom…
- …and he’s right. Tonight’s bottom three are Megan, Allison and Anoop.
- Live performance: Lady GaGa sings “Poker Face.” I thought Ryan said she was on top of the charts right now…Â what are the kids listening to these days???
- Simon says just one of the bottom three is worth saving. I’d guess that’s probably Allison.
- Saved from the bottom three is… Allison. Megan and Anoop remain.
- The fewest votes went to… Megan. Anoop is safe, and Megan will have to sing last night’s song again.
- Simon declines to patronize Megan, and tells her this performance won’t affect her chances of continuing. After singing her swan song, Megan Joy goes home to her two-year-old son.
Next week’s theme: the Idols sing songs from the year they were born.
