American Idol 8 – Top 7 results

Now, the results of Quentin Tarantino Week. :-P

  • “Anyone could go home from this point out.” Well, yeah, that was a given; that’s the way the rules work. Duh. :)
  • Tonight’s guests include Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson.
  • A plug for the summer tour, followed by the Ford Music Video: “Freeze Frame.”
  • Live performance: The top seven sing “Maniac” from Flashdance, in one of the best group-sings I’ve heard and seen in a while.
  • Video package: following last night’s show, the Idols attend a premiere of Zac Efron’s new movie 17 Again, which comes out this Friday.
  • “Dim the lights!” Following last night’s show, I predicted that Allison, Danny and Lil would make up the bottom three, and Lil would go home.
  • Allison is the first to stand, and the first to be safe. One prediction up in smoke. :-P
  • Adam didn’t take Simon’s Rocky Horror Picture Show comparison last night as an insult, and neither did the fans — Adam is also safe.
  • Ryan tries to drag it out for Anoop, who calls him out on it. Anoop, for the third week straight, is in the bottom three.
  • Video package: Jennifer Hudon goes from Idol contestant to Acadamy Award and Grammy winner.
  • Live performance: Hudson sings her new single, “If This Isn’t Love.”
  • Kris and Lil stand up together. Someone in the crowd yelled out to Kris, “My sister loves you!!!”
  • Kris is told to take a seat, but needs to confirm with Ryan where. He’s safe, Lil is in the bottom three.
  • Matt and Danny are left. Matt has been in the bottom three before, but Danny never has. This week, Danny is… safe. Matt joins Anoop and Lil in the bottom three.
  • Saved from the bottom three is… Anoop. Matt and Lil are our bottom two.
  • Live performance: Miley Cyrus sings “The Climb.” Not being a teenage girl, I don’t get into the hype over her, but with that left aside, she is a pretty good singer. Is it sad/scary that I’m considering buying this track?
  • Simon says they might save one of the last two, and it’d be a surprise to that person. Hmmmmmm………………
  • After 36 million votes, Lil… is safe. Matt is the lowest vote-getter, and will be singing for his Idol life.
  • I think I liked last night’s performance better than this one, but he’s going to be understandably nervous.
  • Ryan goes to the judges amid a cacophony from the crowd…
  • Simon says he doesn’t think he’s going to win the competition, and amid calls from the other judges to the contrary, states that a decision has been made…
  • …and it’s good news! Matt Giraud is saved from elimination this week!
  • Simon points out that it’s not all good news, and we shouldn’t be too quick to cheer… two contestants will be going home next week, which will be themed as Disco week. *shudder*

Idol history has been made… the lowest vote-getter did not go home after all! Tune in next week for the torture… :-P

  • Adam really does have an amazingly unique sound; you gotta be born with a voice like that
