American Idol 8 – Top 3 results

The final two are revealed…

  • Video: Goofy cross-promotional clip with the cast of “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” inducting the American Idol judges desk into the Smithsonian.  Not sure if that part actually happened or not…
  • Ryan confirms that the desk really is being inducted.
  • 88 million votes, with just over 1 million separating the top two.
  • Performing later tonight, Jordin Sparks and Katy Perry
  • Ford Music Video: “Break My Stride”
  • Alicia Keys stumps for “Keep a Child Alive” and introduces a young boy, Noah, from Rwanda, to sing a song I don’t recognize.
  • The top three are waiting back stage. Danny is called to the stage.
  • Video: Danny visits Milwaukee, including catching up with Jamar, his friend who was cut during Hollywood Week, and getting chased away from an appearance by a young lady in bright pink pants. :-P
  • Video: Kris returns to Conway, Arkansas, where his favorite restaurant has set him up with free cheese dip for life. The background music, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” is one of my favorites.
  • Live performance: Jordin Sparks sings “Battlefield”, featuring the song’s co-writer, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.
  • Video: Adam checks in at his hometown of San Diego, including a run-in by a shirtless woman on stage. The kids at the Metropolitan Education Theatre have some great questions for him.
  • Live performance: Katy Perry and her latest single, “Waking Up In Vegas.” Katy certainly has her favorite in the competition, with “Adam Lambert” embroidered on her cape!
  • “Dim the lights, here we go…” The first finalist is… Kris! One spot remaining…
  • The last spot goes to… Adam. Danny Gokey’s road ends tonight.
  • Video: recapping Danny’s trip through American Idol, starting with his initial audition not long after the loss of his wife.

The final performances of the year, and the crowning of the eighth American Idol… next week!
