American Idol 9 – Chicago auditions (LIVEBLOGGED!)
Jan 19, 2010 That's Hot
Looks like a… *ahem* warm welcome to start off the Chicago auditions. Heeeeeeeere we go!
- I’m not sure if the Obama references were really necessary, but okay.
- Shania Twain is the guest judge for the day.
- Katelyn Epperly gets to audition only a few months after a home breakup after her dad leaves; we’ll see how she does…
- *snerk* Simon Cowell’s Therapist Hour?
- Katelyn does a great job to start out the Chicago auditions, and the judges love her.
- Yikes, already getting scared of some of the auditions to come…
- Amy Lang is… um… bouncy? “They’re” not going to go to Hollywood, though, says Simon.
- Charity Vance sounds just adorable… but can she sing?
- Signs point to yes – I didn’t expect the lower range when she started out. Nice work.
- Daytona 500 commercial. Just a few more weeks away!
- Oh dear… the crazy accordion lady? Really???
- Wow, this string of folks are baaaaad.
- Between the passing of her father and a traffic warrant, Angela Martin is trying to get back in to Idol for a third time. If she made it twice before, I see no reason why she shouldn’t make it again.
- Curly Newbern, in addition to singing way too high above his range, doesn’t have any breath support, and it’s not working. Next.
- Alannah Halbert isn’t much better, and can’t make the right pitch…
- Brian Krause sings Tiny Tim… if you can call that singing. I’m not sure I do.
- Harold Davis has the confidence. Does he have the voice?
- Not enough of one for this year, but enough to maybe work on. I’ve heard way worse, just in this episode, let alone the previous years of watching.
- Chantelle Graczkowski… is way off pitch. Next.
- Wow. It takes some cojones to sing an artist’s song when they’re the judge. I wonder how many people know who the guest judge is going to be when they pick their audition songs?
- John Park sounds pretty impressive. Shania gets caught in double entendres, but he does have a great voice.
- Paige Dichausse has recovered from anaphylactic shock from an asthma attack, and still has a strong voice. Great work!
- Justin Ray, Keith Semple, Marcus Jones get through with good auditions.
More Idol tomorrow night!
