American Idol 9 – Los Angeles auditions (LIVEBLOGGED!)
Jan 26, 2010 That's Hot
Ryan Seacrest announces the start of the show from, well, his show.
LA, here we go!
- Simon tries to feed the prompter some lines for Ryan. I don’t think he’ll fall for them.
- HA! Guest judge Avril Lavigne is still young enough to audition. Too bad her existing record deals probably disqualifiy her.
- Neil Goldstein has a high IQ… and the hairstyle of a ’50s mom.
A lack of lyrical memory doesn’t help him, either. He’s in danger of being the second contestant this season to be escorted out by security. - Jim Ranger tries to do the nearly impossible — impress the judges with an original song. He doesn’t quite meet Avril’s muster, but he gets the other three votes and moves on to Hollywood.
- After a few misfits, Damien Lefavor takes a shot at “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” — Unfortunately, Goose, he’s lost it.
- These little kids are firey.
- Mary Powers’s daughter likes Simon, for some reason. Once Mom gets through to Hollywood, she gets to shake Simon’s hand.
- AJ Mendoza butchers “Cult of Personality.” It’s a little difficult to sing through a nearly-closed mouth.
- New day, new judge. Katy Perry joins the crew for day two.
- Austin Fullmer thinks he’s Billy Idol. He’s not. Decidedly so.
- Another handful of folks take rejection tearfully, while Andrew Garcia nails Maroon 5 for the first ticket of the day.
- I don’t know the song Tasha Layton was singing, but I like it. She sounds great.
- Jason Greene sounds a little creepy… and succeeds in making Katy feel dirty. Next…
- Katy and Kara seem to be getting a little
- Chris Golightly impresses for the last audition of the day with “Stand By Me” to get the last LA ticket to, well, LA.
Dallas is up tomorrow. Gotta think we’re coming to the end of the audition rounds soon. See you tomorrow night!
